o \J. The regular meeting of the abovo W Board was held last week. There were 1 present: Messrs J. B. Teasdale, chairman, D. Bockett, S. Matthews, H. Y. Collins and M. S. Laurie. New Sale Yards. —Mr Heywood, of the New Zealand Loan and Agency Company, wrote saying that he had received authority from the head office to complete arrangements for the lease of the yards to the company and the Farmers' Auctioneering Company on the Board's terms. It was decided to meet |the auctioneers on the ground on Saturday next and make Anal arrangements. Auckland-Wellington Express.—'•Mr H. J. Greenslade,M .P., forwarded for the Board's information a letter received from the Minister of railways saying that full details of the timetable to be adopted when the through service is established have not yet been settled but the board's representative will be borne in mind before the timetable is finally adopted.—The Chairman reported on his inteview with the Premier whilst in Auckland, and suggested that when the line is formally opened that the ribbon be broken at To Awamutu station or just over the Puniu bridge, where the first sod was turned many years ago. The Premier expressed himself favourable to the proposal. Hall Hire. —It was decided to charge the Philharmonic Society 8s 6d per evening for practices. Poundkeeper.—Mr Honiss was appointed poundkeeper. Clerk's Salary.—The clerk's salary was raised to £26 per anunm. Accounts. —The following accounts were passed for payment:— P. Moody £5 Is 6d; Melville and Co. £44 7s 3d; C. Bygrave £3 17s 8d; Souterand Co. £4 16s; Gilford and Dunkley £3 Is Id; Waipa County Council £1; auditor £1 6s 8d; caretaker £4 lis. Public Health Inspector.—A. P. Bennett, of the Health Department, was present by invitation, and addressed the Board at some length on sanitation. —On the motion of Mr Bockett, seconded by Mr Laurie, it was resolyed that the District Health Officer be asked to sanction the appointment of Mr Bennett as local inspector on a subsidy to the Department of £lO per annum. —It was decided to take steps for the institution of a night soil service, and Mr Bockett gave notice of his intention to move at the next meeting that the Board adopt the necessary by-laws.—Mr Bennett signified his intentoin of giving a lecture in Te Awamutu at some near date. —On the motion of the Chairman, Inspector Bennett was accorded a vote of thanks for his address.—The Inspector suitably replied.
