TARANAKI LAND BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting of the Taranaki Land Board was held on Tuesday, August 18th. Mr F. Simpson Commissioner of Crown Lands, presided, and there were also present, Messrs Heslop, Rattenbury. Connett "and McCluggage. The following business of interest to the King Country was transacted :—■ Transfers: J. McMeckin to E. McDonald, section 1, block 2, Totoro. The application for a transfer from T. O'Brien to A. H. Elliott of section 18, block 3, was held over pending the Ranger's report. General: A. Fletcher applied for exemption from residence on section 4, block 8, Aria, until next Summer. — Resolved that the Board would postpone condition for six months upon the . Understanding that it was final. G. T. Murray, District Road Engineer, applied for permission to fell the bush and occupy about 5 acres of Crown Lands in Block IV, Poutua, at Tangarakau Gorge, for a horse paddock. —Application granted, Roads De-
partment to be allowed to occupy the land during the pleasure of the Board. E. Sowry gave notice of intention to purchase the fee simple of section 13, block XI, Aria.—Held over till necessary application supplied. E. Tolme, Crown Lands Ranger, reported on the application of J. Hegglin to lease part of Aria Township Reserve. —Temporary lease granted from month to month in terms of the report. The Ohura Medical Association applied for a site in Mangaroa township for a doctor's residence. Resolved that in consideration of the purpose for which it was required the Association should be offered either of selections 3 or 4, block 1, town of Mangaroa, for £lO. The Board acceeded to an application by A. McCutchen for exemption from residence on section 11, block 9, Pouatu as he resided with his parents on adjoining lands. F. G. Thomas wrote that she was residing on section 2, block 6, Aria, in an iron whare. —• Considered satisfactory. S. Riddle submitted reasons for not completing the transfer of the land adjoining his section 6, block 10. Totoro, upon which his house was built. — Resolved that he must take steps at once to complete the transfer or build on his section. C. Joyce stated that he was not yet able to get timber on to his section 10, block£, Ohura, to build his house. —Six months final extension of time given to reside on the land in a permanent manner.
