(Own Correspondent). At the meetings of proposed guarantors in the various districts the following representatives were appointed : Whenuakura, Mr J. Symonds; Mangapapa, Mr L. Bicheno; Mangakahikatea, Mr E. So wry. The Committee has since met and has made arrangements to-effect registration of the Association.
There was a large attendance of members at the general meeting of the Northern Ohura Settlers' Association on the 25th iruft. Mr C. H.-\ Box was elected chairman? Mr L. Bicheno, hon. secretary and treasurer; and the following were elected for the executive committee: MesTSfs J. H. Lyon, J. Peacock, W. de Malmanche, W. Sandison, and W. Bennett. The meeting was very enthusiastic as several matters of great importance to the district had met with favourable consideration from the Government, The Executive Committee has been empowered to frame a set of rules and regulations for the Association, to be' confirmed by a general meeting to be called shortly. It was decided to co-operate with the Southern Association as far as possible, in the furtherance and safeguarding of the interests of the district as a whole, and to hold general meetings quarterly. These meetings are to be held alternately at Matiereiand Mangapapa. The canvassers are meeting with much encouragement in enroll! ing members. The next general meeting will be held at Matierc on or about the last Saturday in October. The Bachelors' Ball, it is understood, will take place about the 15th prox.
