STOCK SALES.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd,, report atf follows: —

On Tuesday, June 30th, at Ohaupo, we yarded over 300 cattle a.nd 590 ewes in lamb. All classes of cattle elicited brisk bidding, everything selling at the hammer at satisfactory prices. Fresh conditioned 3 to year old steers realised from £5 10s to £6 is; strong good calves, mixed sexes, £1 9 s 6d to £l 16s 6d: others, £1 2s to £1 6d; fresh conditioned cows and heifers, £2 15s to £4; store cows, £l ros to£i 18s; fat cows, £4 15s to £5,7 s 6d ;18 months to 2 yeir steers, £2 16s to £3 ios. The 500 ewes in lamb advertised were in poor condition and sold at 6s each.

On Wednesday and Thursday July Ist and 2nd inst., we held our annual sale of dairy stock at Ohaupo, during the two days offered over 900 ihead. The weather was extremely rotgh but a large number of buyers attended from all over the Waikato districts, Lower Waikato, Ohura, Tauranga and (neighbourhood, and we report a record sale. A special feature of this sale was the large number of really well grown heifers—42o head—and these were nearly all sold in lots of 6 to 10. The best heifers realised from £6 to £7 ios; others, £4 15s 6d to £5 I2s 6d ; small heifers, £3 15s to £5 6d. Mr Boucher's dairy of cows were a choice lot, and sold at from £7 ios to £lO. Good cows, due to calve at the end of July or middle of August,- £6 ios to £9; others to calve September and October, £4 15s to £5 ios ; culled cows, £2 15s to £4; aged cows, £1 15s to £2 7s 6d. On Friday, July 3rd, at Cambridge, we yarded 400 cattle and 300 sheep. There was a good attendance of buyers from Kawhia, Te Puke, Matamata and neighbourhood. Spirited bidding ruled throughout, only two»pens of 3 year old steers failing to reach the owners' reserves. The beef pens contained 90 head, mostly fat steers. Competition was inclined ito be dull at the hammer, but those reserved were sold afterwards at ruling prices, excepting one pen of steers and two pens of cows not finished. Well fattened steers realised from £7 15s to £8 16s ; others, £5 15s to £7 7s 6d; fat heifers and cows, £5 2s 6d to £5 14s ; aged cows, £3 12s 6d to £4 ios ; fresh conditioned 3 year steers, £5 ss; 18 months to £2 year old steers, £2 i/s to £3 9s; strong good calves, mixed sexes, £1 13s to £2 is; others, £1 4s to £1 9s 6d ; small calves, lis to 16s; quiet empty heifers, £2 10s to £2 18s ; good cows, within 6 weeks of calving, £6 to £8 10s; a few months off, £3 3« to £4- The sheep were reserved at the hammer but sold at owners' reserves afterwards; fat wethers, 17s to £1 is; fat ewes, 13s 9d to 14s 6d ; hoggets, 8s 3d. Pigs—in ;brisk demand : Porkers, £l to £l lis; slips, 13s to 16s. A medium draught gelding, £24'; good pony, £7.

The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Co. Ltd., report as follows : We held our annual Waihou horse sale last Tuesday and Wednesday, and have to report a fair sale.. Three hundred and twenty horses were submitted, comprising 53funbrokens, 145 light horses and 124 draughts. A good number of the horses were very backward in condition consequently were hard to quit, but those in saleable condition and useful sorts met with a ready sale. There was a large attendance from the surrounding districts. Unbroken, medium and heavy draughts 4 'years, £25 10s to £36 j unbroken light horses, 3 and 4 years, £9 15s to £l2; foals, £3 10s to £4; heavy draughts on account of the Piako County Council, aged 1 horses, £36 to £44; 6 year gelding, £47 ; on account of other clients, medium to heavy draughts, 3 to 5 years, £35 10s to £37; medium and light draughts, young and sound, £22 to £33 10s ; milk cart sorts, £l7 10s to £2l ios; aged draughts, £9 ios to £l6 ios; best sound well-paced hacks, £2l to £25 ; others, £9 to £l7 ; harness horses, £l2 to £l7 ; rough hacks, £5 to £9; ponies arid weeds, £3 5s downwards; tip drays, £lOi 10s to £l4 ss; waggon, £lO lOs.

At Hamilton last Thursday we had a smaller yarding of cattle than usual and a good yarding of sheep. Fat ewes, 15s to 17s; forward ewes, 14s; fat weathers, 17s 9d to 19s ; cull ewes 2 tooth, in lamb, 10s 6d; small fat steers, £7 ; fat cows and heifers, £4 7s 6d to £5 ; 15 and 18 months steers, £2 8s ; heifers, 36s ; calves, 18s ; springing cow, £8 ios.
