STOCK SALES.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd,, report as follows: —

On Tuesday and Wednesday, June 23rd and 24th, wc held our annual horse fair at Ngaruawahia yards, and although the weather was extremely rough, a large number of buyers and sellers attended. We report a successful sale. During the two clays we offered 60 medium draught and light colts, and 280 draught and light horses. The unbroken stock elicited good bidding, only a few 2 year olds remaining unsold. Heavy draughts were not in brisk demand, but sound young medium draughts, especially mares and useful harness horses, hacks and ponies, sold well throughout, in many instances realising spring figures. Three year old medium draught colts and fillies realised from £l7 ios to £26 10s; 2 year old heavy- draught colts, £lB to £27 lOs ; yearling draughts, £ll to £ls ; 3 year old strong harness sorts and hack colts, £lO lOs to £l6; heavy draught mares and geldings, £34 to £42; active medium draughts, £24 lOs to £3O; aged draughts, £lO to £l6; upstanding hacks, £ls to £22 IOs; heavy spring colt sorts, £22 lOs to £34 ; strong harness sorts, £l2 lOs to £lßl good cobs, £lO ios to £l4; sound» good ponies and light hacks, £4 15s to £lO lOs ; weeds, £l 15s upwards. The draught stallion " Welcome Willie " brought £3O. A draft of 26 sound, medium draught hacks for Messrs Hill Bros., Matahura, elicited brisk bidding, and realised satisfactory prices.

We held our usual fortnightly sale at Hamilton on Thursday. There was a very short market of beef and store cattle, but sheep were plentiful in supply. Fat steers, light weights, made £6 ios ; fat cows, £4 10s to £5 ; small heifers, £3 18s 6d; store cows, £l 17s to £2; 15 to 18 months old steers, £2 gs. A good demand existed for springers, all those yarded selling readily at from £5 to £5 15s. Sheep —Fat wethers, 18s to £i; forward ewes,-15s 6d ; woolly hogets, ios 6d to 12s.

On Saturday, June 27th, at our monthly sale at Te Awamutu yards, we had an extra large number of cattle, mostly calves and up to two year olds. Good competition ruled throughout, everything selling at the hammer, excepting 6 rough steersMr. Wellington's herd of 46 dairy cows, horses and implements attracted a large ntimber of dairymen and others, andlrealised satisfactory prices. Good, young cows, due to calve in August or early September, sold at from £5 los to £7; a few backward in calving, £4 to £4 12s 6d ; cows at profit, £7 ; 2 year old empty cows, £2 16s ; extra good calves, mixed, £l 9s to £1 Us ; others, 18s to £1 3s ; small calves, 10s; 2 year old steers, £2 19s to £3 6s; fresh conditioned cows, £2 5s to £2 18s; bulls, £1 10s to £2 12s 6d ; draught mare, £3O; active gelding, £l6 2s 6d ; ponies, £2 5s to £4 ; tine harrows, £2 15s; disc harrows, £6 10s; chain harrows, £4; plough harrows, £l 2s to £l 15s per set; milk cans, 18s to £1 6s; pigs, weaners, lis 6d to 14s; a lot of farm produce, poultry, &c, at usual prices.

The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Co. report as follows : At Ohaupo last Tuesday we yarded 500 head of cattle and 1286 sheep. There was a good attendance, and a good-.inquiry for both cattle and sheep, prices showing a decided improvement, especially for young sheep and cattle, and practically the whole yarding was sold by auction. Fresh 3 and IV2 year steers brought £5 5s to £5 12s 6d ; 2 to 3 year steers, £3 2s to £3 13 s ; l S an d 18 months steers, £2 15s to £2 i/s; 18 months empty heifers, £1 /s 6d to £2 2s; mixed sexes, £1 6s to £1 10s ; weak calves, lOs to 16s ; fresh empty cows, £3 6s ; 2 tooth ewes in lamb, 19s to 18s 6d; full mouth ewes in lamb, 14s to I/s ; forward woolly ihoggetts, 10s 3d to lis 6d ; shorn do, 9s 3d ; 4 and 6 tooth longwool weathers, I2s to 14s Bd.

On Wednesday we held a clearing sale at Ngaroto on account of Mr. F. Mullions, and have to report a successful sale. There was a fair attendance considering the state of the weather. The?3l dairy cows averaged £5 ss, the best cows making £6 to £6 Iss.'

At Waihou on Friday we yarded 350 head of cattle and 320 sheep. There was a good attendance, and the majority of cattle sold at advanced prices. Seventy-six head of beef penned were required. Fat steers brought £6 115s to £8 2s 6d ; heavy fat cows and heifers, £5 lOs to £6 is ; lighter weights, £3 6d to £4 I/s 6d ; 2 to 3 year steers, £3 3s to £4 6s; 15 and 18 months steers, £2 17s to £3 7s; yearling steers, choice, £2 16s ; choice steer calves, £2 Is; mixed sexes, £1 lOs to £2 9s; old cows, lOs to 15s; springing cows, £5 5s to £7 for young and sound cows ; others, £3 17s 6d to £5 12 6d; fat wethers, 18s 6d; fat ewes, 14s 6d ; fat hoggets, heavy, 12s Qd; others, IOs; forward hoggets, lis ; 22 acres of swedes, £l 7s 6d an acre.

At Ngarauawahia, on Saturday last, we yarded 650 head of cattle, and had a most successful sale, there was a good attendance, and brisk bidding throughout. Fat steers brought £7 to £8 5s ; lighter weights, £6 s_s ; fat cows and heifers, £4 15 s to 3 s "> forward conditioned 3 year steers, £5 to £6';, forward empty cows and heifers £3 to £3 7s 6d ; backward condition 3 year steers, £2 16s to £3 6s ; yearling steers, £l 8s 6d to £2 7s v ; choice steer calves, £2 23 ; others, mixed sexes, 18s to 245; 18 months and 2 year empty heifers, 35s to £2 I2s; springing heifers, £4 10s ; cows, £5 17s to £6 ; forward hoggets, 9s 6d.
