MANGAPAPA.
(Own Correspondent). The meeting in the schoolroom, to consider the proposal to form a Northern Settlers' Association, was held on the 26th inst. Notwithstanding the inclement weather, a good number of settlers attended, and it was resolved to form an Association. A strong committee was formed to canvass the various centres of the district for members, and a genera, meeting is to be called on Saturday, July 25th., at 2 p.m.. to report progress and to elect permanent officers and a permanent executive committee. The annual subscription was fixed at 2s. 6d. The settlers are very enthusiastic over the matter, and are sanguine that their ultimate success is assured. The school mid-winter vacation commences from the 29th inst., but on account of the annual examinations taking place before the Christmas vacation, the winter holidays are this year reduced to a week.
