With reference to the petition from Te Euiti residents regarding the repairing of the Te Kuiti-Waiteti road, Mr Jennings, M.P., received word from the Minister in charge of the Department, to the effect that the necessary work had been authorised on the 29th ult. The fencing of the Main Trunk line from Pukemtu onwards.. _ has been the cause of some inconvenience in consequence of the old crossings having been fenced off. Representations were made to Mr Jennings, M.P., who interviewed the Minister Minister undertook that steps would be taken, either by the Railway or Roads Department, to permit settlers to use the old crossings.
