RAILWAY SOCIAL AT TE KUITI.

In response to the general invitation issued by the railway employees at Te Kuiti, for the social held on Friday night last, quite 200 people were present. It has not often been our pleasure to witness such a largfeassemblage of people in the Te Kuiti Hall, and the need for better accommodation for entertainments of this description was greatly in evidence on Thursday evening. The hall was nicely decorated with flags and greenery, while the floor was in excellent condition for dancing. The only thing to be regretted was the limited space for those wishing to " trip the "light fantastic." The committee were indefatigable in their efforts to make one and all thoroughly enjoy themselves, and were rewarded by the general those present that the social was a pronounced success. Mr J. P. Hetet supplied the music, while Messrs Mann and H. Poutawera were efficient M.C.'s, Messrs Green and Colebrook, Ltd., supplied an excellent supper, which was much appreciated. During the evening several vocal items were rendered by Miss Thomson, Messrs Cox and Poutawera (2). Dancing waa kept up with great vigour till the small hours of the morning, when all dispersed quite satisfied that the railway social had been an immense success.
