The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, reports as follows :
At Hamilton, Thursday, April 23rd, we yarded 300 head of cattle, and 782 sheep. There was a good attendance, prices ruling about the same as at our last sale. One hundred and twentynine beef yarded, of medium quality, v/as required. Well-fattened steers made £7 15s to £8 5s ; good cows and heifers, £5 to £5 10s ; lighter weights, £4 4s to £4 17s 6d; 3 and 3%-year steers, £5 I2s; 2%-year steers, £4 7s 6d ; fresh cows and heifers, £3 3s to £3 10s; springing heifers, £4 10s to £5 ios; 12 and 18 months steers, £2 Is to £2 12s ; calves, 2ls to 225; vealers, 30s; fat ewes, 14s 6d to 15s 6d; fat hoggets, 10s 9d to 12s 3d; shorn lambs, 7s 9d; cull lambs, 3s lOd ; store wethers, 15s ; pigs, weaners, 5s to 8s ; slips, I2s.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report as follows : On Wednesday and Thursday, 22nd and 23rd April, we held our annual autumn horse fair at Ohaupo, and during the two days offered 410 draught and light horses, and 90 draught and light colts. A large attendance of buyers came from Auckland, Te Kuiti, and all Waikato districts. We report a successful sale. Competition was brisk for the unbroken stock, anything of this class selling at the hammer, excepting 6 light colts. This also applies to any really good draughts, especially young draught mares, these sold at prices equal to spring sales. The light horses sold well throughout, especially sound good hacks, buggy horses, and cobs, unbroken 3 year draught colts realized from £32 up to £39 10s; active medium draughts, £l9 ios to £2B ; strong harness sorts, £ll ios to £lB IOs; light hacks and harness colts, £6 lOs to £10; heavy draught mares and geldings, £33 to £47 lOs ; active young draught mares, £26 to £34; medium draught geldings, this class were dull of sale, £ls to £22 ; aged sorts, £8 to £l2 lOs ; upstandinghacks and buggy horses, £ls lOs to £2l; light hacks and harness sorts, £7 lOs to £l2; good ponies, £4 to £6 lOs ; weeds, 20s to £2 lOs ; a 2-whecicr and harness, £ls ; drays and harness, £lO to £l4. On Saturday, April 25th, we held a clearing sale of live and dead stock on account of Mrs W. H. Grant. A large attendance came from the neighbourhood, Otorohanga, Whatawhata, and back country districts, good competition ruling throughout. We report a successful sale. The dairy stock was in poor condition, and sold at from £2. Ijs to £3 I2s 6d ; bull. £3 ; 2-year-old heifers, £3 ; yearling heifers, £1 ios ; yearling steers, £l 15s ; calves, 14s; 4 and 6 tooth ewes in lamb, 18s; same aged wethers, i/s 6d ; full mouthed ewes, lOs 9d to 14s 6d ; lambs, 9s 'sd ; cull lambs, 5s ; yearling draught colt, £l3 ; yearling harness filly, £6; buggy horse. £lO lOs ; aged draught mare, £l4 lOs ; pony, £2 lOs : d.f. plough, £5 • s,f. plough, £3 ; disc harrows, £4 IOs; tin harrows, £2 IOs; dray, £6; the remainder of the farm implements, tools, furniture, etc., all realised satisfactory prices.
