N.Z. FARMERS' UNION.

OJorchanga Branch. The ordinary monthly meeting of the above branch was held in the boardinghouse (the Hall being previously engaged) on Saturday, April Ilth. There were present : Messrs J. Ormsby (in the chair), Cater, R. G. Matthews, H. Matthews, A. J. Ross, Ranby, Rogers, Vicary, Turner, H. M. Quin (hon. Secretary and Treasurer). The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, and Mr Sims, of Te Kuiti (proposed by the Secretary, and seconded by R. G. Matthews) was elected a member of this Branch.of the Union. Mr R. G. Matthews proposed, and Mr Ranby seconded, that the Secretary write to Mr Greenslade in order to obtain, if possible, the volume of business done to and from the Otorohanga railway station, trucking yards and goods shed. —Carried. Mr H. Matthews proposed, and Mr Rogers seconded, that Messrs J. Ormsby, A. J. Ross, and G. R. Matthews be a deputation to wait upon the Hon. Sir Joseph Ward, upon his arrival in the district, with a view to bringing before his notice matters of importance to the said district.—Carried. Mr H. Matthews proposed, and Mr A. J. Ross seconded, that Messrs J. Ormsby, Vicary, R. G. Matthews, and H. Quin, with power to add to their number, be the Union's representatives to meet Dalgety and Co's. agent, to discuss the question of saleyards for Otorohanga.—Carried. Mr Ranby proposed, and Mr A. J. Ross seconded, that the Secretary write to the Farmers' Auctioneering Company, asking them whether they were going to erect saleyards at Otorohanga or not. —Carried. Mr Ranby, seconded by R. G. Matthews, proposed that Mr H. M. Quin be the Branch's representative at the Provincial Conference, in Auckland, an May 2lst and 22nd, 1908, and that he be allowed £5 5 s for his expenses. —Carried. Mr Ranby proposed that Messrs Ormsby, Vicary, H. Matthews, R. G. Matthews, and the mover (Mr Ranby) be the Executive for this Branch, three to form a quorum. Seconded by A. J. Ross and cfrried.
