STOCK SALES.
■♦ The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report as follows : At Ohaupo on Tuesday, 24th inst, we had a very small muster of cattle. Several pens of young steers found ready sale ;,-18 months steers made £2 6s ; 2-year-old. steers, £2 19s to £3 ; good calves, £l 4s ; smaller sorts, 12s to 17s 6d ; 3 year old heifers forward, £3 15s ; ditto, fat £4 6s to £4 Us. A line'of breeding ewes was passed in. Lambs charged hands at from 7s 3d to los 6d. The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, reports as follows : At Matiere on Wednesday, April Ist, we held our opening sale in the new yards, and penned 781 head of cattle and 950 sheep. There was a large attendance of settlers from surrounding districts, competition was keen and practically everything was disposed of at satisfactory prices. All the sheep were sold and only 40 head of cattle failed to reach the owners' values. 'Fresh conditioned 3 I A to 4-year steers, £5 7s to £6 4s; those not quite so forward, £4 iSs to £5 ss; very choice 2'2-ycar steers, £3 15s to £4; eighteen month steers, £2 ios to £2 15s: best calves, 25s to 30s ; smaller lots, 15s to 20s ; choice 2 ! 2 and 3-year-old heifers in calf. £2 15s to £3 7s 6d : springing heifers. £4. Fresh full mouth ewes, 8s to lis 6d; wethers, 12s 6d to 145 3d; two and four-tooth ewes. 16s ; lambs, 6s.
