The Premier's Visit.
TO THE EDITOR.
Sir, —Some time ago it was stated Sir Joseph Ward would visit the King Country towards the end of March. It is now very close to the time mentioned, and we have heard no further word of the intentions of the Prime Minister, though he. has been dangerously close to our borders on one or two occasions. There is no denying the fact that the present tour of the Prime Minister is mainly for electioneering purposes. The Government leaders realise that the Auckland district is the stronghold of the Opposition. Moreover, the Auckland district is growing so rapidly that its support in future is going to be worth much more than in the past, hence this Ministerial wooing. Possibly the party leadejs_considerjio : thing is to be gained by visiting the King Country, and 'that good cases could be made out for the granting of more money for development purposes. I, along with others, am arriving at the conclusion that Sir Joseph Ward has no intention of visiting this district at present. In any case I consider it the duty of the Committee appointed for the purpose to ascertain the position definitely.— I am, etc., ANTI - HUMBUG.
