TE KUITI POST-OFFICE.
The information that a definite step has been taken with regard to determining the site upon which Te Kuiti Post-office will be built, wiil be welcome news to those who have the interests of Te Kuiti at heart. It was at first considered probable that the selection of a site would be postponed until the Premier visited the district, when a personal inspection could be made, and the claims of the public urged upon the Minister. In appointing the President of the Maori Land Board as 'one of the selectors the Premier was doubtless influenced by the fact that the site favoured by the majority of the townspeople was Maori-owned, while the appointment of a Government Engineer is a natural occurrence. There can be little doubt as to the most desirable position for the Post-office, but in order to prevent any possible misconception of conditions, it is to be hoped those chiefly interested will represent clearly and strongly the various points of importance to the gentlemen appointed.
