STOCK SALES.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report as follows : On Thursday, 12th inst., at Hamilton Municipal Yards we penned about 90 head of beef, all selling except two pens. Small beef made £7 6s to £7 15s ; really good cows, £7 Is ; lighter weights, from £4 5s to £6 10s ; empty two-year heifers, £2 9s 6d; 18-months to 2-year steers, £3; dairy cows at profit, £7.; well-bred heifers, £7. A line of ewes and lambs, £l Is 6d; lambs, 14s ; ewes, 14s 6d. A full yarding of pigs sold well. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, we held our annual horse fair at Hamilton in the new horse bazaar, and offered 430 odd draught and light horses, and 115 unbroken colts. A large attendance of buyers came from Auckland, Tauranga, Te Kuiti, Rotorua, and Thames districts and back country. Although the competition was inclined to be dull, especially forward heavy draughts, we report a good sale. A number of really first-class draughts from the Main Trunk elicited good bidding, up to within £5 to £lO of owners' reserves. However, most of the sound young animals were sold privately. Sound young active medium draughts were required, also good harness horses and hacks. Anything of this class sold readily. Heavy draught 5-year-old mares and geldings realised from £42 to £SO, 7to 10-years £32 to £4O, active medium draughts £2B to £37aged draughts £lO to£l6, upstanding hacks and buggy horses £lB to £25, sound young harness horses £l6 to £2l lOs, strong harness and riding cobs £lO lOs to £l7, light hacks £6 lOs to £ll, ponies £2 lOs to £4, unbroken strong harness colts £l4 to £2O, light colts £7 lOs to £lO, weeds £2 to £3 ss. Tip drays £l2 to £l2 lOs, harness £2 to £3 lOs, waggon and tip harness at usual prices. On Saturday, 14th inst., we had a full yarding of cattle at Te Awamutu. Good competition ruled and everything was sold. About 130 of this season's calves made from 19s to £l 6s ; smaller sorts, 15s to I/s ; yearling steers, £2 8s to £2 I2s; fresh conditioned cows, £2 7s to £3 12s; fat heifers and cows, £4 17s 6d to £7 ; 2-year-old steers, £3 lOs to £3 Is. Large entry of pigs all sold, good slips 17s to £1 3s 6d, weaners lis to 14s 6d.
