The Mill Bridge.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Permit me a little space in your valuable paper to call attention to the urgent need of a bridge over the Waipa at Otorohanga. Some months ago the Waitomo Count3 r Council took sufficient interest in the subject to pass a resolution in favour of having the bridge erected. Since then a vote has been placed on the Estimates, to the amount of £SOO, for the work, and the Council, as our local representative bod3 r , should see that steps are taken to get the money spent. It is superfluous to reiterate that the crossing is highly dangerous ; eveiyone in the district knows it. The mill bridge, which is used by all and sundry, is the only means of getting across the river, and can only be used for horse or foot traffic. Both settlers and travellers in general are deeply indebted to Messrs Eilis and Burnand for the convenience, but it should not be necessary to trespass upon the good nature of a private firm for public convenience. It is to be hoped the County Council members will rise to the occasion, and assist towards getting a bridge erected at the earliest possible time. —I am, etc., OTOROHANGA RESIDENT.
