PRESENTATION TO MR. JENNINGS.
Social at Waitara.

Waitara, Thursday.
A large gathering, representative of the settlers of North Taranaki, took place last night at Waitara, when a social was held in appreciation of the services of Mr W. Jennings, M.P., for Egmont. The Mayor of Waitara presided, and, on behalf of the citizens, presented the member with a gold watch and chain. Mr Ogle v ex-Mayor), on behalf of the Maoris in the district, presented Mr Jennings with a piupiu, which formerly was in possession of the celebrated Timokowaru.
The chief Hipanga said the Maoris recognised how strongly the member had fought for the district, and sent the piupiu with good wishes. Messrs Symes and Major, iM's.P., were also present at the function.
