ANGLICAN CHURCH CONCERT.
A Successful Gathering. T-he concert, in aid of the Church of - England at Te Kuiti, was held in %, Hetet's Hall on Wednesday evening. gathering had been looked forward to for some time, and with a really first-class programme by local and Hamilton talent, the success of the function was assured. Notwithstanding the inclement weather the hall was packed with a thoroughly appreciative audience, and all the items were well received. Hamilton was well represented, performers to the number of eight taking part. Mr G. Warren, whose name on a programme is an assurance of success, was, as usual, a host in himself, his recitations and 'songs now reducing the audience to unrestrained laughter and now calling up their sympathies and i sentiment. The tableau arranged by Miss Beswick, and carried out by the lady members of the Church, was excellent and reflected credit upon all concerned. Owing to unforseen circumstances many of the lady performers were unable to appear, but Mrs Porter's songs were really well rendered and highly appreciated. Mrs Porter, Messrs Kirk, Blackman, Davis, and Pavitt, all rendered good items, and the Hamilton visitors, including Messrs Warren, Panton, Smith, Jolly, Green, Bond, and Tyerman rendered great service, while Mr Brodie, of Auckland, also contributed acceptable assistance. The orchestra, consisting of Mis Beswick (piano), Messrs Davis, Kirk, - Thompson (violins), and Hira Poutawera (piccolo), gave several selections which were highly appreciated. The entertainment was a complete success from a financial standpoint, and it is expected a sum of about £l2 will be cleared to go towards the Church Building Fund.
f After the concert the visitors were 7 entertained at a social gathering in the hall. Speeches were made by the guests, who spoke of the enjoyment it a'fforded them to do what they could in any way assisting Te Kuiti. They had all looked forward to the outing, and if pleasure had been given the audience they would all go back to Hamilton delighted.
