Maori Weddiag at Kopua,

A very interesting Maori weddingwas celebrated at Te Pourewa Church, Te Kopua, at noon on Sunday September Ist., the Rev. Taimona Hapimana officiating. Miss Meri Kahu Kawhena, second daughter of Wiri Kawhena of Te Kopua, was the bride, and Mr Tukere Hone Te Anga eldest son of Hone Te Anga of Otorohanga the bridegroom. The bride wore a charming costume of white lustre.veil and orange blossoms. Her sister Miss Turea Kawhena,- daintily robed in white cashmere with pink trimmings, attended as bridesmaid'. Mr Te Maika supported the bridegroom as best man. Notwithstanding the continuous heavy rain between one and two hundred visitors assembled from Kihikihi, Te Kumi, Taumarunui, Otorohanga, Pirongia, etc., including a large number of Europeans. Addresses were given by several Maori speakers. A very cordial and interesting communication from the Bishop of Auckland was read by the officiating clergyman. Mrs Terautaramoa of Taumarunui, grandmother of the bride, was present, as also the bridegroom's mother Mrs Tepare Auta Komange. A sumptuous wedding breakfast was served in the dining hall attached to the Rev. Taimona Hapimana's residence. At intervals during the proceedings the Waiwaia. Band from Mangapeehi discoursed sweet music under the able leadership of Mr Ngatoka. . . '
