TARANAKI LAND BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the Land Board was held at New Plymouth, on Tuesday, August 20th, when there were present: _ The Commissioner and Messrs Hislop, Connett and McCluggage. The following business of interest to the King Country was transacted : Transfers approved : S. E. Meredith to S. E. and W. E. Meredith, sections I, 2 and 5, block 2, Ohura; J. Morris to J. W. and G. H. Etherington, section 3, block 11, Ohura ; J. McClure to R. H. Mackenzie, sections 7 and 10, block I, Aria. _E. Benson applied to have her undivided interest in section 8, block 7, Ohura, transferred to W. Brown. The application was granted conditionally, upon a proper survey plan being submitted and approved by the Chief Surveyor. Niho Niho Dairy Factory : —A plan of survey of the proposed site at Niho Niho, section 4, block 3, Ohura, was submitted. — Resolved that the site of two acres, as surveyed, be approved ; that the application be made for it to be withdrawn from the Improved Farm System ; and the land be offered for sale by public auction for cash at an upset price of £2O loaded with valuation for improvements. Appeal against forfeiture: —L. B. Hirst appealed against the forfeiture of section 8, block 5, Ohura, and stated that she would go on the land as soon as a house could be built. The Board decided to rescind the resolution of forfeiture, and to allow the applicant four months in which to be residing in a bona fide manner, this extension to be final. Defaulters A. W. McHolm, sec3, block 2, Aria (deficient improvements^— Explanation accepted, subject to verification by the ranger. Morrell and Lyford, section 3, block 6, Ohura (non-residence), requested exemption till December. Four months extension granted. W. Woods, section 20, block 14, Aria (non-resident; no explanation).—Deferred till next meeting. A. Bond, section 11, block 3, Ohura (non-resi-dent ; improvements now being carried out).— Deferred for ranger's report. E. Loveday, section 5, block 9, Ohura (non-resident).—Permission granted to live with her parents on adjoining land. J. W. Muir, section I, block 15, Ohura (non-improvement; selector absent from colony), asked for extension of time. — Ranger to report. . • Lease issued : —A lease will be issued to C. Ralph for section 18, block 15, Aria. Application for a Scenic Reserve: — Messrs Hursthouse and Telfar's application for a scenic reserve to be added to their holding, section 4, block 14, in exchange for some rough land, was refused. Grouping Sections : —Mr Tolme, ranger, submitted proposals for grouping sections not suitable for re-allot-ment, in Paerae Improved Farm Settlement. — The report was adopted but further inquiry will be made with regard to section 22, block 14, Ohura.
