AUCKLAND MEMBERS' DEPUTATION.
Roads and Railways.

A deputation of Auckland members interviewed the Premier and Minister g£ Public Works on Monday morning, when' matters" in connection \jrith roads and railways were dealt with, The Premier said the Government were considering the advisability of taking over the control of the main public roads of the colony. Mr Greenslade spoke in favour of the construction of a railway line to Kawhia, and Mr Massey in favour of the Waiuku line. The Premier said the Government would not authorise any fresh lines until the main lines were constructed. Mr Jennings put forward strong reasons for the starting of the Stratford-Ongarue line from the Ongarue end on the completion of the North Island Main Trunk line. ffhe Premier sfated that the application for the survey of the line from Ongarue to Ohura was being considered by the Acting-rMinister for Public Work's. The deputation, which numbered eighteen members, did good work on behalf of the Auckland district.
