On July 27th, at Te Awamutu, we held our monthly sale, and had a gcod yarding of cattle. Everything sold. Well-bred steers £4 to £4 15s, yearling steers £2 to £2 is, empty 18months heifers £2 ss, good steer calves £l 14s, others 14s to 265, fresh cows and heifers £3 3s to £3 9s, fat cows £5 15s. Pigs.—Weaners 8s to I2s 6d, slips 145 to I/s, grown pig £3 10s. Horses. — Unbroken draught colts rising 3 years £l9, spring cart mare £25.
At Paterangi, on Monday, we held a clearing sale on account of Mr R. T. Millar. The dairy cows were mostly two months off calving, and sold from £3 12s to £8 15s, choice heifers near profit £5 5s to £6, 3-year draught filly, by Chief Commander £3O, 2-year draught £lB, aged draught mares £2O, other clients cows made £3 5s to £7, pony £l3 lOs, waggon £22. All farm sundries made full prices.
On Tuesday, July 30th, we held our Ohaupo Sale, and yarded 500 store cattle and 156 dairy cows and heifers. Brisk competition ruled throughout, everything selling. ' Sixty fresh steers off turnips brought £5 I2s to £6 lOs, 2%-year-old steers £3 15s to £4 I2s 6d, 18-months steers £2 14s to £3, choice yearling steers and steer calves, £2 to £2 ss, mixed yearlings £l 14s to £l 19s, mixed strong calves £1 7s 6d to £l lis 6d, fresh cows £3 to £3 lis, store cows £1 17s 6d to £2 10s, empty 2-year heifers £1 15s to £2 7s 6d. rough steers £3 5s to £4, fat heifers £4 15s to £5 lOs, heifers in calf £2 15s to £3 lOs, good cows £6 5s to £7 lOs, others £5 to £5 12s 6d, good heifers near profit £4 15s to £5 lOs, backward cows and heifers at store prices.
