TO THE EDITOR.

Sir,— Reading casually through your paper last week, I was confronted with a letter, which, to me, was worth commenting upon. I am referring to the proposal made by " Senex " that we should 1 concentrate our energies, and resent the tyranny under which we groan, when v/e place a humble "Te " before Kuiti. That this "Te" is unnecessary, I admit; that it is doing us no harm, I am sure ; therefore, that we first reform some of our more crying troubles, and attack; this '' Te " afterwards, savoureth more of wisdom. In conclusion. I beg to ask our would-be emancipator a few questions. Are the King Country roads to his satisfaction? Are there any paved streets in our townships ? ' Has everything been done that can lessen the difficulties that the settlers have to overcome, in converting the wild lands of the King Country, to a state of civilisation ?—I am, etc., SUDDEN.
