The Maori " prophet," Rua, is _ evidently a man of some versatility. According to the " Whakatane Press" his most recent departure is a petition to Parliament requesting the purchase by the Government of all Native lands. Rua has prophesied a tidal wave at Te Teko, and this has led the Natives to desert the pa, leaving behind them their food and crops. Horses and pigs have been turned into their cultivation areas, and the result will be that when hunger sets in, an appeal will be made to the Government for supplies.
