STOCK SALES.
The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report a 5. follows : On Thursday, May 30th, at Hamilton, we had a good yarding of cattle, and better competition than at recent sales, and everything sold. Wellfatted steers, £Bs to £8 15s; lighter weights, £7 is to £7 I2s 6d; good heifers and young cows, £4 lOs to £6 I2s 6d ; aged heavy cows, £3 lOs to £4 5s ; 2%-year fresh steers, £4 lOs ; 15 and 18-months steers, £2 4s to £2 lOs ; good calves, 19s to £1 6s; others, 14s to 16s; fresh cows and heifers, £2 aos to £3 5s ; store cows, £l 17s 6d to 4a; dairy cows and heifers near calving, £4 lOs to £6. Two hundred and forty sheep and lambs made : heavy fat ewes, 19s 3d to £1 is ; 2tooth wethers, 17s ; ewes ! in lamb, 14s 6d ; fat and forward lambs, 12s 9d to 14s ; weaner pigs, 7s to lOs. On Saturday, May 25th, at Pirongia, we had a full yarding and although the rain was incessant everything sold except two pens of heifers in calf. 15 to 18-months steers, £2 3s to £2 9s : 2-year-old steers, £2 18s to £3 7s 6d; strong calves, 18s to £1 Is; empty cows, £l 15s to £2 lOs ; woolly lambs, 9s 9d. On Wednesday, May 29th, we held a clearing sale of live and dead stock on account of Messrs G. L, Macky and J. Hodgson (to dissolve partnership accounts) and report a very successful sale. Choice dairy cows in milk and near calving made from £6 15s to £9 ; 2-year-old heifers, £4 lOs to £5 5s ; yearling heifers, £2 ; old fresh steers, £4 12s 6d. The horses were an extra choice lot and made good prices, draughts making up to £4O lOs. The machinery and implements all made ruling prices.
We held our Te Kuiti sale on Wednesday last and report good prices although the muster was not so large as usual, between 500 and 600 being yarded. Everything was-sold-except springers, and the' following prices were realised : 3 to 3 steers made £4 lOs to £5 13s ; steers, £3 17s to £4 Is; 2-year-old steers, £3 9s ; steers, £2 7s to £2 lOs ; good forward cows, £4 5s ; fresh young cows, £3 5s ; store cows, £2 15s ; empty heifers, £2 to £2 lOs ; calves, from £1 2s to £1 lOs for good quality. Several horses were offered but met with little competition. One chestnut hack sold at £9 lOs.
