ELTON COMEDY COMPANY
The above company will appear in Hetet's Hall, Te Kuiti, on Friday and Saturday, May 24th and 25th. Speaking of the performance rendered by the well-known company, the " Daily Telegraph " says : —The Elton programme had the spicy music-hall flavor that in some theatres run all the year round. It opened with an entertaining sketch " The Happy Pair," by Miss Elton and Mr F. Meymott, in which the former played " Cavalleria Rusticana " on a tiny organ and Mr Meymott made a hit with the comic song " if there hadn't been an apple on the tree." Mr Fred Elton proved a host in himself, and his name spread all over the programme. Miss Elton proved a highly talented performer and was both clever and artistic, Her ballad " 'Way down on the old Swanee" was warmly applauded, while the audience grew quite enthusiastic over her splendid exhibition of bell-ringing and trick violin playing. Nothing quite so good as the latter has been seen here for some considerable time. Mr Fred Meymott helped the fun along with good effect and his comic singing was highly entertaining'. The performance was concluded by two pleasingly rendered illustrated ballads. The three versatile performers do not allow the fun to drag, and the audience were kept in a titter of amusement throughout the performance, and the merits of their entertainment should attract a large audience.
