A meeting of those interested in the . m 'I e Kuiti Racing Chib was held in Mr JSgj Kerr's commercial room on Mosidav night last. Mr K. 11. Haniv was voted !o chair. Major lark explained the position of the club and staled thai as a result of hi , interview with Mr llartland, Secretary of the /Auckland h'aciug ('hiii, it was ascertained that it was necessary for 1 lie Te Kuiti Club to hold a race meeting belore the end ol the present racing season (August .list), otherwise the license of the Club would lapse. It was decided by those present that a meeting' should be held on May 2/|th, and that a programme be drawn up and sent to the Auckland Racing, Club for approval. The following oflicers were elected : Patron, Mr W. T.Jennings, M.11.R.; president, Mr J. I. lietet; vice-presidents. Major Lusk, Messrs T. I'incand N. I. 11 mil ; stewards, Messrs 1!. ilctel, K. 11. Hard) 1 , N. H. Lusk, R. Somervillc. |. O'Brien, W. Lorigan, M. Korsvlh and L. Mackenzie; judge. Mr J. Steel; starter, Mr J. T. I lelel ; liandieappcr, Mr W. Standish ; clerk of course, Mr Mi" A. D. McCardlc; clerk of scales, Mr A. C. McCardlc; secretary and treasurer, Mr J. Taminadge. The members' annual subscription was fixed at £l Is, and a large number of names were received as members. As the lime in which to or,".anise, the meeting was limited, it was decided ( to hold only a small meeting this season, with a modest pri/.e list, and to devote what funds could be collected to procuring, and putting in order, a suitable ground tor a racecourse. The meeting is bound to develop into one I of considerable importance, and the club intends, ne.\l season, to secure a suitable date for the meeting, and present a liberal programme.
