STOCK SALES.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Limited, report as follows : On Saturday, 16th inst, at Rangiriri, we yarded over 800 head of cattle. Spirited bidding was maintained throughout the sale and practically all yarded changed hands. Four-year-old forward bullocks, £6 14s to £7 8s ; 3 and 3%-year steers, £4 19s to £5 16s ; 2 and 2%-year steers, £3 6s to £4 7s 7d; 18-months steers, £1 18s to £2 7s ; this year's calves, 16s to £1 3s ; quiet dairy heifers, in calf, £2 18s to £3 I2s ; springers, £4 to £4 ss. At Matamata, on the 20th inst, we had a fair yarding, but the heavy rain affected operations. Two-year steers made £3 to £3 16s ; 18-months steers, £2 4s to £2 14s ; mixed yearlings, £l 9s to £l 17s ; calves, 17s to 21s. On Wednesday, February 27th, at Te Kuiti, we held a special sale of cattle on account of Mr L. Bayley and other owners, and yarded over 1000 head of grown steers and j r oung cattle. A large attendance of buyers was present from Waikato and neighbourhood, and though prices vvere a shade lower in some cases, than Waikato markets-, the bulk of the cattle were sold either at the hammer or afterwards. Fresh-conditioned lYz ann 4-year steers from L. Bayley realized £5 16s to £6; zVz and 3-year fresh steers, £3 lOs to £4 18s ; 2 and 2%-year steers from various owners, £3 5s to £3 18s; 18-month steers, £2 lOs to £2 17s 6d ; mixed yearling and 18-month cattle £2 2s to £2 12s 6d ; fresh-conditioned jroung cows and heifers, £2 7s to £2 16s; quiet 18month and 2-year heifers, £2 4s to £2 lis; strong, good calves, 2ls to 23s 6d; smaller sorts, lis to 15s ; quiet heifers in calf, £2 7s 6d to £3 13s. The dairy cows from Mr Aston, £2 lOs to £3 I2s od. A large number of pigs sold at various prices.
