[Before Mr H. W. Northcroft, S.M.] Friday, January 25x11. Carrying Liquor on the Railway.The hearing of two informations for breaches of the Railway bye-laws, in carrying liquor from Tc Awamutu to Te Kuili on the railway, was adjourned till next Court day, March 15, E. Corban, charged with a breach of the Factories' Act in keeping his shop open after 6 o'clock in the evening, pleaded ignorance of the law. After evidence had been taken, the defendant was lined 40s, and costs 255. Beer Duty Act. —Claude Kountree was charged with failing to cancel a beer duty stamp on a hop beer cask. Mr Hine appeared for defendant, and stated that his client was quite unaware of the fact that the stamps in question had not been cancelled, but would plead guilty, as there had evidently been an oversight:. Fined 20s, arid costs, £2 Os 6d.
