TE KUITI.
On Boxing Day, Mrs and Miss Melling, assisted by numerous friends, held their annual Sunday School picnic. Sundry vehicles were kindly lent to convey the children and their friends to a beautiful spot spot in the Mangaokewa gorge, close to a rushing waterfall. Swinging, fishing, and a variety of games were indulged in during the day, and at intervals refreshments, of which there was an abundant supply, were dispersed. Before breaking up, Mr Morgan took two photographs, one of the whole assembly, and another of the Sunday school children, after which, the Rev. Spencer thanked Mrs and Miss Melling and the friends who had so kindly assisted them, and called for cheers, which were heartily given. The return journey was then Isafely accomplished, everyone saying they had enjoyed their outing. On Sunday morning Mrs and Miss Melling bade farewell to their scholars, from whom they parted with regret, but the fact that their time is otherwise fully occupied, compells them to resign. It is pleasing to note that they commenced Sunday school in 1898 with nine children, and the number on the roll has now increased to 53. The Rev. Spencer hopes to start school again after a month's holiday.
