The last meeting of theTe Kuiti Debating Society for the year will be held on December 21st, when the adjourned debate on the subject, "Should every man have a vote," will be held. As there is other important business to be transacted, it is hoped there will be a full attendance of members.

The Sports Committee for the forthcoming Carnival at Te Kuiti, is working hard to ensure the success of the gathering. At the last meeting it was decided to call tenders for the refreshment booth and fruit stall, returnable on January 16th. Mr_ J. Ormsby was appointed treasurer, vice Mr F. Darrow, resigned. It was also decided to request Mr T. McKinder, of Ohura, to handicap the chopping •and sawing events. The following stewards have been appointed to look after the various branches of the carnival on the day Ground : Messrs Hardy, Ormsby and Mordaunt; protest : Messrs Sims, Ormsby; Steel, Hardy and Lorigan; chopping: Messrs Bevege," Ormsby, Larritt and Plier: athletics: Messrs Tammadge, Darrow and Power; horse events: Messrs Lorrigan, A. Settlers, in all parts of the district, will be glad to hear that_ the erection of sale yards in Te Kuiti, has at last been started. Mr Bailey, senr., is erecting the yards, and hopes they will be sufficiently advanced to hold the February sale in them. The yards, when completed, will be very commodious, and will hold a very large number of cattle. There are to be sixty cattle pens measuring 18ft. by 18ft.; also, three large drafting j r ards. The site is an excellent one, and when finished, these yards will be second to none in the Auckland Province.
