WAITOMO COUNTY COUNCIL.
The statutory annual meeting of the Waitomo County Council was held at Otorohanga on Wednesday last, when Mr J. Ornisby (Clerk) presided. There were also present: Crs. D. H. Lusk, A. C. McCardle, J. Ormsby, Hoffman, A. Scholcs and B. McGechie. ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN. Mr D. H. Lusk was rc-clccted to the position for the ensuing year. EXPENDITURE OF THIRDS. An application was received from A. Wilson, of Hangatiki, to have his "thirds," amounting to £9, spent on theHangatiki-Otorohanga Road. Mr Wilson stated he intended to supplement the amount to the extent of an additional £9 if his request was granted. After some discussion it was resolved on .the motion of Cr Scholes, seconded by Cr Ormsby, that the application be recommended for approval. POLL FOR LOAN. Cr Hoffman requested" that the notification of the poll for the Te Rau-a-moa loan should be advertised in the Kawhia Settler as well as the King Country Chronicle. After some discussion it was decided to grant the request in this instance, the Councillors expressing the opinion that the Chronicle being the County paper should be regarded as the proper medium for all County notifications. NEXT MEETJ.NC. It was decided to hold (he next meeting of the Council in Mr Kerr's commercial room at Te Kuiti, on January 14th al II a.m., when (he general rate, resolved upon at last meeting, and the bye-laws will be confirmed.
