MANGAROA.
At a recent ballot in New Plymouth, a number of local men were alotted sections under the I.F.S tenure. This is a move in the right direction, and the Land Board is to be congratulated on their action.
Mr D. Bruce, one of our first and most esteemed settlers, is about to enter into the holy bonds of matrimony. His marriage with Miss E. Williams, neice of Mr W. Williams, of this town, takes place at Parua Bay on the 21st inst. Mr D. Sullivan, of Mahorahora,-has purchased the property adjoining his holding known as Mr W. Morpeth's " Mansion," at a satisfactory price to both parties. Owing to Dr. Bronte having settled at Huntly, Dr. Mason, of the Health Department, has been approached with a view to procuring the services of a resident medical man for the district. The amount of guarantee has not been fixed, but settlers have subscribed liberally and no difficulty is anticipated as regards the amount.
