MATIERE.

For some time a movement has been on foot to establish the dairy industry in this district, a meeting in support of the project being held at Olsen's bridge in the Mangapapa valley on Saturday, the loth ult. After considerable discussion it was decided to communicate with MacEwan and Co., and get an estimate of a central factory, about four miles from Matiere, and two creameries, one to be erected in the Mangapapa valley and the other at Mangaroa. It would be a great boon to the small settlers in this locality if the dairy industry could be established on a sound footing.

At the meeting of the Matiere School Committee on the 10th ult., it was decided to have a school picnic when the school breaks up for the Christmas holidays,, and that subscription lists be circulated immediately to obtain funds for the prizes.
