STOCK SALES.
Mr Newton King's sale at Awakino, on November 15th, was well attended by settlers from all parts of the district, good prices were realised all round, and everything was sold under the hammer. There were fair yardings of mostly grown cattle. The following were the ruling prices : Three to 4-year-olds, £4 5s to £5 5s : 2to 2Vz years, £3 to £3 12s; yearlings, from £2 upwards; fat cows brought from £4 to £5, and bulls up to £4. A number of Taranaki buyers were present, some coming from as far distant as Hawera.

The recent rains have freshened up the feed everywhere, and a sharp rise has taken place in all classes of cattle. Good grown steers in forward condition are in demand, and all lines yarded sold at satisfactory prices throughout the week. At Rangiriri, notwithstanding the exceedingly wet day, we had a large yarding of cattle and report a most successful sale. Competition was brisk throughout for the 1000 head yarded, every beast being sold at the hammer, except two aged dairy cows. Well-bred forward steers from Te Akau and other owners realised from £6 17s to £8 16s; 3 and 3% year-old steers, £5 is to £6 7s; 2% year-old steers, £4 8s to £4 17s 6d; 2 year-old steers, £3 10s to £4 2s6d; 18 months, £2 15s to £3 4s ; Yearlings, £1 13s to £2 ss; Fresh heifers and cows; £3 2s to £4 ios; Dairy cows, two months off calving, £3 12s 6d to £5. At Te Awamutu, full prices were maintained, and all yarded were sold. Good dairy cows and anything at profit sold well. Pigs continue to harden. Good weaners, 16s to 245 ; Slips, £l 6s to £l 9s ; Stores, 19s to 30s.
