OPARURE.
A most enjoyable dance was held in the hall at Oparure on Saturday last. Quite a number of visitors from Te Kuiti and surrounding districts attended, and dancing was indulged in till midnight. Messrs O'Neil, Wilkinson, and McLeod took on an active part in promoting the function, and the hall was tastefully decorated by Oparure residents. A return social is to be given by the residents to-morrow (Saturday) evening. The roads are now beginning to shew signs of improvement, and with continued fine weather for another week, should be in excellent order.. The dreaded potato blight has ! not yet made its appearance in the district, all the crops so far showing splendid growth. People here are hoping that the mild season has had the effect of checking the disease.
