STOCK SALES.
The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Hamilton, report as follows: — For the last week all classes of cattle have maintained late prices, with a slight improvement in beef. We have held sales at Cambridge, Ohaupo and Hamilton, at each of which we had full yardings. Grown steers, in fresh condition, we quote up to £6 5s ; prime steer beef, £8 I2s 6d to £9 2s 6d; cow beef, £5 5 s to £5 16s ; 2%-year-old empty heifers, £3 to £3 3s ; yearlings, well-grown, from £2; smaller sorts, 28/- to 33/6. Dairy cows are not wanted, except those of first-class quality. Messrs McNicol and Co. report as follows: — At Ohaupo on Tuesday, 13th inst., we had a yarding of 593 head of cattle, and have to report one of the most succesful sales held for a considerable time, all ages of well-bred cattle participating in a sharp rise, and with the exception of one lot of 16 calves every pen sold under the hammer. About 270 well-bred steers, from 2% to 4-years-old, were penned, all were in really good condition and met a brisk sale. Forward condition l x /2 and 4-year-old steers, £5 7s 6d to £6 lis ; two pens well on to beef, £7 3s to £7 15 ; fresh 2%-year-old steers, £4 7s to £5 ; yearling steers, £2 to £2 7s ; yearling heifers, £l 17s 6d to £2 ss; 18-months-old steers, £2 14s; mixed yearlings, 30s to 40s ; quiet 2-year-old empty heifers, £3 ; forwardconditioned empty cows, £3 10s to £3 15s; fat cows, £5 15s; springing heifers, £4 10s to £5; 300 ewes (in wool) with lambs made from 19s to 245.
