RAURIMU-TOKAANU ROAD.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—l was extremely pleased to see in your issue of Oct. 26th, that mention was made by your Raurimu correspondent of the necessity of a road from Raurimu (on the Main Trunk Line), to Tokaahu (on the southern end of Taupo Lake). A considerable portion of the road is already formed, and bridges fit for the wheeled traffic erected over the streams. The remaining portion over the plain would be very easily constructed and only one more bridge would be required, as a good ford could be easily obtained over the other stream to be crossed. If this road was formed, it would be one of the most attractive and beautiful tourist resorts in the whole colony, as the scenery throughout is magnificient, and the atmosphere superb. This route would be easy of access from Rotorua by coach to Taupo, from which place a steamer is already running to Tokaanu. The: cost of the work would not be great, and the result would be the completion of the connection between the thermal regions and the Wanganui river through a country unrivalled for its scenic beauties and variety of attractions. Thanking you in anticipation—l am, etc ONE WHO IS INTERESTED.
