TIMBER RAFTING ON THE WANGANUI.
A Hopeful Outlook. The efforts of Mr Jennings M.H.R., to induce the Government to reconsider its decision re rafting timber on the Wanganui, has at last met with success, and word has now been received from the Minister of Lands, that applicants for timber floatage licenses, should apply Wellington Land Board, asking that the Gov_ernor may recommend the gazetting of the Wanganui River under the Timber Floating'"Act. If licenses were'issued; they would be subject to j» bond of £lo,<»0, and to very stringent regulations as to time and conditions. T„„ \ «"' v -.'«--**-<•..? ■ ; • • >
