Cemetery Board.
♦ This Board met at the Courthouse on Saturday, all the members being present. The Chairman reported that during the past year 654 days’ work had been done in the cemetery, at a cost of £22 18s 6d, and the general condition had been much improved. Complaints had been made of injury done to some tombstones, and the sexton had been instructed tc warn off boys hanging around the cemetery, or having shanghais in their possession, ami to immediately report any breach of order to | tiie police. I Air.l. McConchie was appointed I sexton l'-.>r another .year. The forms of notices to owners I of unnecessary picket fences, directed at last meeting, were amended, and the condition of Air C. Evans' grazing occupation were approved. Air Barton asked the Board tc advise him if the collection made last year for the upkeep of the cemetery should be paid to tiie Boards account. The trustees were not very clear as to tiie i: 11,nations of tit a subscribers. The treasurer stated that the amount to credit at the Bank was £9B 19s Bd, ;;nd unpaid accounts amounted to ‘-J! l(ss 9d. The meeting expressed an opinion that II graves which relatives of decn.iseit persons refuse, or neglect, to keep in order, ami conse-quently-become an eyesore, should be dealt with by tiie Board, and anything not in harmony with the rest of the cemetery should be removed, on the same authority.
