Athletic and Cycling Club.
The annual meeting was held at Club Hotel on Thursday last, Mr P. Morris presiding. The report stated that owing to the success of the New Year sports and entertainment, the Committee were able to sho w a fair credit balance for the year, although £l4 3s 9d had been spent in fitting up a gymnasium. Regret was expressed that the gymnasium had not been taken advantage of as it should have been, and it would be unsatisfactory to carry it on again the same as last year. A decrease in membership was attributed to the fact that no bye-meetings had taken place during the year. Reference was made to the delay in having the Takahanga Domain levelled, which would enable the Club to provide a sports track. It was urged that the Board should be persistently reminded of the matter. The departure of Mr Absohnn, Hou. Auditor, was mentioned with regret, and thanks expressed to Mr J. C. McLauchlan for his having since fulfilled the duties of the office.
