Killed by Lightning.

Christchurch, Feb 15 Near Tarndale station, at midday yesterday, Donald Ross, Rabbit Inspector, was struck on the head by lightning and killed,"together with his horse. Munro, Stock Inspector, who was with him, was thrown from his horse and injured on the shoulder. He was rendered unconscious for an hour and when he recovered he rode to Hamner, 60 miles away. (The’ deceased, Mr Donald Ross, was, if we mistake not, the fine, handsome Highlander who appeared in costume and contributed Considerably by his bag-pipe playing to the success of the Bushmen’s Sports here last year).
