BALFOUR’S POPULARITY.
A good story comes from Rochester. During the election a party of townspeople were discussing political personages in the bar parlor of a.comfortable inn. The Prime Minister had come in for some Radical criticism, when Hie ‘ ‘ boots ” suddenly shouted, ‘ ‘ Three cheers for Arthur Balfour. He brought in golf, which has brought back to the laud, aud he has popularised motor cars, which are bringing people back to the country roads, and that’s more than all the Radicals ever did for rural England !” And the “ boots ” (say/ “ Golfing ”) carried the meeting with him.
