Breach of Promise Case.
JILTED ON THE EVE OF WEDDING DAY. Sydney, March 7 Cousins, a landowner of the Molong district, sued Mary Louisa Barr, nee Nevin, for £5,000 damages for breach of promise. The defendant, a wealthy runholder, jilted the plaintiff the night prior to the wedding day. A priest had arrived and tickets were taken for a honeymoon trip to England. Plaintiff had spent £2OO in anticipation of the marriage. The Jury awarded plaintiff £l5O.
