i A weetiug o; Committee was held on Wednesday evenin'?, Mr W. Hopkins presiding'. It was resolved that u the business houses close on Labor Day the opening stay s sports be held that day. Ihe handicappers for the sports ae Messrs Burinnd and Stanlake (foot races) and Mr A. Davis (bicycle race). Letters were read from the Brass Baud agreeing to the terms of engagement offered by the Club: from Mr 11. Flower offering to make a present of prizes for the bike race (winch the Club acknowledged with a voie of thanks); from the Secretary of Oddfellows Lodge wishing that the retain card match be played on Oct. 2nd, which was agreed to; and from the Registrar of Unclassified Societies. The latter communication stated that it is usual to make the following one of an athletic club-s rules: ‘No member shall derive ally pecuniary gam, except as a salaried officer, from any of the property or the operations of the society. Prizes cannot be paid in cash to members. ‘ Pecuniary gain ’ does not include the winning of trophies or prizes, nor does it include prize money where such money is paid to the society.’ The Secretary was authorised to write asking for a further explanation in regard to prizes.
