Kaikoura's representatives had an easy win yesterday, by 50 runs .-n the first innings. That victory would have , gone to the home team b>d time permitted the game being played out is regarded as certain—so far as there is any certainty in a game which is regarded as gloriously and notoriously uncertain. Kaikoura had 144 on with 5 wickets to tall, and as Amuri’s team was far below the strength of former elevens, the task of getting over 200 runs in one innings was, it appears, beyond it. lhe Amun skipper is to be commended for bringing forward so many young players, five, at least, being of that order. His action tn this particular is highly encouraging to budding cricketers. It is worthy of a keen and sterling sportsman—a prince as such. Want of space in this 1 issue precludes my dealing with the p ume in detail, I must therefore defer comment until next issue. Scores, etc., are as follows : KAIKOURA.
