Addington Market.
Christchurch, Thursday Messrs Pine & Co. report on Wednesday’s market as follows : There was small entry at Addington yesterday. Fat sheep of prime quality met fair sale, and lighter sorts sold at fair prices. Prime freezers 14/6 to 15/9; lighter sorts 12/- to 13/6 ; heavy butcher’s wethers 16/- to 17/3; prime butcher’s ewes 12/6 to 14/4 ; other sorts 8/- to 11/6. Merino wethers 8/- to 12/6. We sold a line of merino wethers from Dunsandel at 13/7 to 15/-. In store sheep 4-tooths 11/to 11/6; x-bred hoggets 8/1 to 9/3; x-bred ewes and lambs 7/6 to 9/9; 4tooth dry ewes 9/9. There was small entry of fat cattle which sold up to latest rates. In store cattle there was large entry, and prices were very little better. Pigs of all classes sold well; fat from 3jd to 3|d per lb. Stores met an exceedingly good demand. No improvement is expected in store sheep until we get rain, which is wanted badly.
