Victoria beat N. S. Wales by 161 runs. Gregory made 102, out of 194, in second innings for N. S. Wales. We are indebted to Mr R. Dunn for the respective scores in the MarlboroughNelson match, in Blenheim, on the 25thand 26th. The Nelson team went in first (at 2 p.m.), but their Christmas dinner was, apparently, such a tempting one that they dined too well. At any rate they only scored 57. Marlborough replied with 110, quite satisfied with their day's work. Ou the next day the Nelsonians asserted themselves, scoring 238. The Marlborough men played with similar determination, and put up 155 for 6 wickets, the contest being continued until 7 o'clock —au hour later than usual—when the match was proclaimed a draw. It was evidently ‘ ■ gran’ fecht.’ An umpire in a match at Lyttelton recently got a kuock very near the temple. A batsman bit a ball hard to square leg, and before the umpire could get out of ita course he received a blow which knocked him to the ground.
