MELBOURNE, Dec 27 During Christmas revels tbree brothers named Mason, residing at Carlton, quarrelled. One brother was knocked down, and subsequently died of injuries received in the fall. Perpetrator of assault arrested. Vechet, wellknown bacon curer, is establishing agencies in Colonies for purpose of sending home supplies of carcasses. Trial shipment is being sent by outgoing mail steamer. SYDNEY, Dec 27 The Govt, who are about to undertake, immediatlely, Public Works which will largely absorb unemployed, have decided to warn other Colonies of futility of men flocking to Sydney, as work will only be provided for people of thia Colony. Storeroom and cattle killing premises attached to the Bourke meat works have been destroyed by fire. Damage estimated at £5OOO. The premises were insured for £7OOO.
