A novel method of catching porpoises is, it is said, being tested in the Mediterranean Sea. The porpoises are attracted by means of the electric light, and, after being surrounded by a net, are killed by exploding dynamite in the water. In a recent experiment every one of the porpoises in the net were killed by the explosion. To go forth out of self, to have all the hidden wealth of feeling of which I am capable forth towards others, and to receive back again this wealth redoubled in reciprocated affection and increased power of loving—this is to live wisely and well. Not to do this is to eliminate from life all that makes it most truly human, all that makes it most really valuable.—Phillips Brooks. Patience and fortitude conquer all things.
