A Distorted Statement.

The Wellington Press says: A correspondent writes:—‘Two neighboring farmers in the Kaikouras offered a reward for the destruction of pigs, one paying for the snouts, the other for the tails. It seems that an exchange of snouts and tails was effected by the people who claimed the reward, and the pigs were paid for twice over.’ If this is held to refer to a practice now obtaining in this district it is altogether wrong. One sheep farmer paid for both tails aud snouts, another for snouts only.
